"Il Cielo" - "The Sky" - is a classic hilltop village townhouse that one sees throughout Tuscany. It is located in the old medieval village of Castelmuzio, and it is a perfect Tuscan home-away-from-home for friends traveling together or families with children of any age.) It was built in 1891 and has been entirely restored, maintaining its original features. The furnishings are Tuscan antiques. This house has trompe l'oeil on the walls and ceilings, making it an extremely charming as well as comfortable accommodation. This spacious townhouse spans three levels. The entry is on street level, where you will enter into a large entrance hall and staircase decorated with antique Tuscan artifacts. Halfway upstairs is a half bath with toilet and basin. On the second level there are two large bedrooms, a living room with a comfortable sofa bed (double bed), a dining room with an open fireplace (with plenty of wood, free of charge), and a spacious bathroom with hairdryer, bidet, and shower with unlimited hot water. The bedrooms can be made up with either an Italian "matrimonial" bed (king-sized bed) or two twin beds. Every bed has a high-quality orthopedic mattress, clothed with the finest of luxury linens and bedspreads, and extra pillows. The kitchen, just a few steps away from the dining room, has everything you need to prepare delicious meals. The kitchen includes a stovetop, toaster, coffee makers, microwave, refrigerator with freezer, and dishwasher. You will find a full complement of dinnerware, flatware, water and wine glasses, wine decanter, cutlery, utensils, and pots and pans. Candles are provided for romantic meals. Everything you need is here! The double exposure of Il Cielo provides vistas of both the surrounding countryside or quaint views of the village. For your comfort, the windows have screens to keep the mosquitoes outside while letting the fresh Tuscan breeze inside. Halfway to the top floor is a laundry room for guests of Il Cielo only, with washing machine, ironing board, laundry sink, and clothes drying rack. Clothes detergent is provided for your convenience. Use of the washing machine is included within the rental charge. The top of the house, next to The Sky and warm Tuscan sun, is a private terrace with table and chairs and grill. From this vantage point you can enjoy the view of the bell tower and medieval center of the village as you sip your wine and relax in total peace. Your perch on top of the world allows you to see beyond the village buildings out to the Val D'Orcia countryside. Upon your arrival at Il Cielo you will find a full breakfast basket intended for the first morning, and a sample of our olive oil and wine. Items that will be available during the whole stay include coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, tea, herbs, Tuscan liqueurs, Italian candies, body soap and lotions, shampoo, and much more. At Il Cielo you will have a CD player with radio, TV (Italian stations only), playing cards, books to read (in English), and two mountain bikes to explore your surroundings (additional professional bikes can be rented). You will find a large, leather-bound, three-ring binder (Isa's Big Book) chock-full of detailed information about the area, driving itineraries, bicycling itineraries, restaurant reviews and descriptions, spas and wellness centers, museums, festivals, art, and so much more. This book has been prepared by Isabella herself and is for your use while you stay with her at Le Casine! For groups of six to eight, both Il Cielo and Il Nido may be rented. Il Nido is tucked underneath Il Cielo and may be rented separately or, via a communicating door, connected to Il Cielo to sleep another two people. "Il Cielo" has an independent heating and air conditioning. The total size is 1,076 square feet. Your Tuscan Dream can truly be lived in this thoughtfully equipped Italian townhouse! |
